Then to Kaindy Lake with its sunken silver forest, a family-run guesthouse at the foot of Altyn-Emel, and a full day among the park's singing dune and coloured chalk hills. Back to the city for the Shymbulak cable car, the Medeu rink, and a last morning at glacial Big Almaty Lake.
