Day by day

Day 1: Rome

Airport pickup and transfer to the hotel. Explore the Eternal City with a hop-on hop-off panoramic bus pass. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Rome.

Day 2: Rome > Assisi > Siena > Florence

Deluxe coach to Assisi to visit the Basilica of St. Francis with frescoes by Giotto, followed by lunch. Continue to UNESCO-listed Siena and its shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, then through the Tuscan countryside to Florence.

Day 3: Florence

Walking tour of the cradle of the Renaissance: the Duomo, Brunelleschi's Dome, Giotto's Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria and Santa Croce. Lunch in a traditional Tuscan restaurant. Afternoon free, or an optional visit to Pisa.

Day 4: Florence > Bologna > Venice

Morning in Bologna, walking from Piazza Malpighi to Piazza Maggiore with a light local food experience along the medieval arcades. Afternoon arrival in Venice.

Day 5: Venice

Guided tour from Piazza San Marco past the Doge's Palace and Bridge of Sighs, followed by spritz or prosecco with cicchetti, the classic Venetian snacks. Afternoon free among the canals and artisan shops.

Day 6: Venice > Montepulciano > Rome

Travel into the heart of Tuscany to hilltop Montepulciano, home of Vino Nobile. Traditional Tuscan lunch with local wine, free time in the historic centre, then on to Rome.

Day 7: Rome

Skip-the-line tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Square, including the Galleries of Tapestries and Maps and Raphael's Rooms. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Rome
