Things to do in Shirdi
Sai Baba's town, and the two days out of it that most pilgrims take: Shani Shingnapur and the Pravara villages, and the jyotirlinga at Trimbakeshwar with Nashik's ghats.
Getting around Shirdi
Shirdi itself is walkable, with autos and some app cabs at the station and airport. The days out are not: Shani Shingnapur is about 72 km away and Trimbakeshwar about 120 km, in villages and temple towns where nothing waits to bring you back. Every experience below includes the vehicle, a local driver who waits through the darshan queues, and the parking.
Experiences
- Shani Shingnapur, Newasa and Devgad from Shirdi: The Shani shrine with no roof, the pillar of the Dnyaneshwari and a Datta temple on the Pravara
- Trimbakeshwar and Nashik's Panchavati from Shirdi: The jyotirlinga at the source of the Godavari, then the river ghats where it reaches Nashik
Best months
October to March. April and May are very hot on the plains; Thursdays, weekends and festival days bring the biggest crowds.
Getting there
Shirdi airport is about 15 km from town, and Sainagar Shirdi station has direct trains from Mumbai and further afield. About 5 to 6 hrs by road from Mumbai or Pune.
