Things to do in Jaisalmer
The shortest driving day on the site, because in Jaisalmer the car is not about distance, it is about heat, closing hours and where you cannot park.
Getting around Jaisalmer
The town sights sit inside 15 km, but the fort lanes take no cars at all, the Jain temples shut by early afternoon and everything outside town is 6 to 40 km away across open desert with nothing in between. The local full day is 8 hours and 80 km, which is exactly what these experiences are built on. Every one includes pickup from your stay.
Experiences
- Jaisalmer fort and havelis day: A living fort, three carved havelis and the lake, in one day
- Bada Bagh, Kuldhara and the desert evening: Royal cenotaphs, an abandoned village, and sunset on the dunes
Best months
October to March. April to June regularly passes 45 degrees and the middle of the day is unusable.
Getting there
Overnight trains from Delhi and Jaipur arrive in the morning; Jodhpur is about 5 hrs by road. Jaisalmer's own airport takes seasonal flights, mostly in the winter months.
